Acura Ends Porsche’s IMSA Win Streak with Thrilling Victory in Detroit
In a dramatic turn of events at the 2025 Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic, Acura Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) disrupted Porsche Penske Motorsport’s four-race winning streak in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The No. 93 Acura ARX-06, driven by Renger van der Zande and Nick Yelloly, secured a hard-fought victory on the challenging 1.645-mile street circuit in downtown Detroit.

A Battle of Titans in the GTP Class
The race commenced with Nick Yelloly leading from pole position, marking MSR’s first pole-to-win performance since 2023. However, the competition intensified as the No. 7 Porsche 963, piloted by Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy, took the lead during pit stops. This maneuver also allowed van der Zande and the No. 6 Porsche of Mathieu Jaminet to pass Nasr, dropping the No. 7 Porsche to fourth place.
Van der Zande capitalized on the opportunity, executing a decisive pass on Taylor with just over three minutes left, securing the lead and ultimately the win. The No. 93 Acura crossed the finish line 0.947 seconds ahead of the Cadillac, with Jaminet and Nasr finishing third and fourth, respectively .
