The Lansing Lugnuts continued their strong season Sunday afternoon with an 8-4 victory over the South Bend Cubs at Jackson Field, completing a dominant series sweep against a West Division rival. Improving their record to 23-16 overall and 10-2 against the West, the Lugnuts showcased balanced hitting and solid pitching to secure their fifth win in six games against South Bend at home.

Lansing’s offense was relentless, racking up 13 hits, eight walks, and four steals to keep pressure on South Bend throughout the game.
On the mound, starter Corey Avant set the tone with four solid innings, striking out three batters and allowing only a sacrifice fly in the third inning. Relief pitcher Jake Garland took over for the next four innings, surrendering two runs in the sixth but striking out four to maintain the lead.
In the ninth inning, Tom Reisinger came on to record two quick outs but left the game with one run allowed and the bases loaded. Mark Adamiak, who made his fourth appearance of the series, needed just two pitches to retire Andy Garriola on a popout, earning his league-leading sixth save of the season and closing out the victory.
With this win, the Lugnuts have now asserted themselves as a dominant force in the West Division, continuing to build momentum heading deeper into the season.
