Trois-Rivières Grabs Series Lead
The Toledo Walleye dropped Game 3 of the 2025 Kelly Cup Finals on Wednesday night, falling 3-2 to the Trois-Rivières Lions in front of a lively crowd at Colisée Vidéotron. With the win, the Lions take a 2-1 series lead heading into Game 4 on Friday.
Trois-Rivières wasted no time getting on the board—just 42 seconds in, Chris Jandric redirected a puck past Jan Bednar for his third of the postseason. The Lions extended their lead midway through the first when Xavier Cormier found space in the slot and buried a pass from Alex Beaucage.
Toledo responded in the second, cutting the lead in half when Carson Bantle fired a wrister from the left circle to beat Luke Cavallin glove side. It was Bantle’s fifth of the playoffs.
The Lions restored the two-goal cushion late in the third with a sneaky wraparound from Anthony Beauregard, who tucked one in from behind the net. The Walleye kept pushing, and with a power play and Bednar pulled, Colin Swoyer blasted home his sixth of the postseason from the high slot to make it 3-2. Despite a strong finish, the Walleye couldn’t find the equalizer.
With Trois-Rivières now holding the edge in the series, the pressure shifts to Toledo. A win in Game 4 would even the Finals and guarantee a Game 6 back at Huntington Center—giving the Fish a chance to bring the battle back to the Glass City.
