Komets Fall, Next Stop: Kansas City

The Toledo Walleye are swimming into the Western Conference Finals after a 5–3 win over the Fort Wayne Komets, closing out the Central Division Finals with a 4–2 series victory.

After giving up an early goal just 35 seconds into the game, Toledo responded with poise and firepower. Defenseman Dylan Moulton opened the Walleye scoring at 7:08, and the team never looked back. Tyler Spezia and Moulton each tallied two goals on the night, with Moulton’s second coming late in the first period to give Toledo its first lead.

Trenton Bliss was the engine behind the Walleye offense, dishing out four assists and pushing the pace throughout the night. Brandon Hawkins also chipped in with three assists, making the Spezia-Bliss-Hawkins line nearly unstoppable.

Toledo controlled the third period and sealed the win with a clutch goal from Matt Anderson at 19:11. The Komets made a late push but couldn’t break through the Walleye defense.

With the victory, the Walleye are officially Central Division Champions and now turn their attention to the Kansas City Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals.
