Toledo now leads series 3-2
After logging heavy minutes in a double-overtime battle just one night earlier, the Toledo Walleye showed no signs of slowing down. In a game that remained scoreless through two periods, the Walleye dug deep in the third to secure a 2–1 comeback win over the Fort Wayne Komets.
Fort Wayne was first to break the deadlock. At 4:10 in the third period, Anthony Petruzzelli found the net with help from Nolan Volcan and Darren Brady. The Komets capitalized on a quick transition play to take a 1–0 lead.
Toledo responded less than five minutes later. At 8:31, Tyler Spezia delivered the equalizer, assisted by Matt Anderson and Trenton Bliss. The momentum began to shift as the Walleye picked up their pace and pressed for the go-ahead goal.
With just 24 seconds left in regulation, Colin Swoyer gave the home crowd what they were waiting for. His late-game goal, set up by Mitchell Lewandowski and Nolan Moyle, pushed Toledo ahead for the first and only time of the night.
The Walleye held off a final surge from the Komets to close out the win. After nearly five periods of hockey the night before and two scoreless ones today, Toledo proved it still had enough left in the tank to finish strong.
The series continues with Toledo carrying the momentum and a renewed sense of resilience as they move forward.
