Megan Keller Wins Defender of the Year

It was a pretty fitting place for Megan Keller to add another piece of hardware to her resume.

The Farmington Hills native was named the PWHL’s Defender of the Year on June 16 at the 2026 PWHL Awards in Detroit, capping off an impressive season with the Boston Fleet. Keller finished the regular season with 22 points in 30 games, tying the PWHL’s single-season scoring record for a defender. She also led all defenders with three game-winning goals and four power-play goals.

And if the season itself wasn’t enough, Keller had already made history earlier this year. She scored the golden goal for Team USA in the Olympic gold medal game against Canada, adding another unforgettable moment to a career that has already taken her to the top of the sport.

Now, she can add PWHL Defender of the Year to the list.

For Keller, getting to accept the award in Detroit made the moment even more special. This is home for the 30-year-old, who grew up in Farmington Hills and has spent much of her career representing Michigan on the biggest stages in hockey.

Keller was also named to the PWHL First All-Star Team, making the night an even bigger celebration of one of the league’s best defenders.

A hometown award for a hometown star. It doesn’t get much better than that.
