Chippewas Hold Off EMU 24–13

Eastern Michigan (1–4, 0–1 MAC) fell to Central Michigan (3–2, 1–0 MAC) 24–13 Saturday at Kelly/Shorts Stadium in Mount Pleasant.
Central Michigan dominated early, scoring two quick touchdowns in the first quarter: a 1-yard pass from Joe Labas to Brock Townsend and a 49-yard dash by Nahree Biggins, giving the Chippewas a 14–0 lead. EMU answered late in the quarter with a 41-yard field goal from Rudy Kessinger to cut the deficit to 14–3.
The second quarter saw both teams exchange points, with Langston Lewis hauling in a 2-yard pass from Angel Flores for CMU and Kessinger responding with a 38-yard field goal. At halftime, Central Michigan led 21–6.
EMU’s Noah Kim brought the Eagles closer in the third with a 14-yard touchdown run, trimming the lead to 21–13. However, Central Michigan sealed the win in the fourth quarter with a 22-yard field goal from Cade Graham, making the final score 24–13.
The Eagles showed fight and continued to find the end zone through both field goals and rushing touchdowns, but the Chippewas’ early offensive burst proved the difference in the matchup.
