The journey to the Olympics often starts close to home and for Megan Keller, that journey began in Michigan.

Announced as a member of the U.S. Olympic women’s hockey team, Keller’s selection marks another chapter in a decade-plus career that’s taken her from local rinks in Farmington Hills, Michigan, to the highest levels of international competition.

Born and raised in Farmington Hills, Keller laced up skates at a young age and developed her game through local youth programs before starring at Boston College, where she established herself as one of the nation’s top defensemen. Her professional career blossomed in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) with the Boston Fleet, where she has emerged as a leader and captain.

Keller’s Olympic selection is a testament to her sustained excellence both on the back end and as a steady presence in high-pressure moments. Her Michigan roots have been a big part of her identity, and this latest honor underscores the impact the state’s hockey culture has had on shaping one of the sport’s premier defensemen.

Whether she’s wearing the red, white and blue or leading her professional club, Keller’s ascent from Farmington Hills to the Olympic stage is the kind of story that resonates both at home and across the hockey world.
