Walleye Split Weekend Series in Bloomington

The Toledo Walleye earned a weekend split against the Bloomington Bison, bouncing back from a Friday loss with a decisive win on Saturday.
Friday’s game saw Bloomington edge out Toledo 4–2 despite early momentum from the Walleye. Chad Hillebrand opened the scoring early in the second period, followed by a goal from Nolan Moyle. However, Bloomington capitalized on a penalty shot and added two more goals before the period ended to take control. Carter Gylander stopped 23 shots in the effort, but the Bison added an insurance goal late in the third to seal the win.
Saturday’s rematch told a different story. Brandon Hawkins led the charge with a hat trick, including a penalty-shot goal in the second period, as Toledo’s offense came alive in the 6–2 victory. Tanner Dickinson, Nolan Moyle, and Chad Hillebrand each added goals of their own, while the Walleye dominated the third period with four goals to pull away from Bloomington.
The split moves Toledo to 4–2–0 on the season, continuing strong starts for several players — including Hawkins, Moyle, and Hillebrand — who remain key offensive drivers early in the campaign.
