The New York Sirens goaltender and Commerce Township native will join the U.S. Women’s National Team for its October training camp in Plymouth, Michigan, as the team prepares for the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship.

Another milestone awaits Callie Shanahan. The New York Sirens goaltender has been added to the U.S. Women’s National Team’s roster for its upcoming October training camp, earning an opportunity to compete at the international level as Team USA prepares for the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship.

The camp is scheduled for October 23–30 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan, bringing the national team together for its final preparations ahead of the world championship in Denmark, which begins November 6. Shanahan is one of four goaltenders named to the 31-player camp roster, joining Aerin Frankel, Gwyneth Philips and Ava McNaughton.

As part of the preparation schedule, Team USA will face Canada twice. The first matchup is scheduled for October 28 in Windsor, Ontario, followed by a second meeting October 30 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth. The games will offer the group an opportunity to prepare for international competition before the championship begins.

For Shanahan, the invitation represents another step in a career built through consistent development and perseverance. A native of Commerce Township, Michigan, she played four seasons at Boston University before beginning her professional career with the New York Sirens of the Professional Women’s Hockey League.

During her senior season at Boston University in 2024–25, Shanahan recorded 18 wins and three shutouts, finishing with a 1.81 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage. She also served as an alternate captain and earned a place on the Hockey East All-Tournament Team before being selected 28th overall by the Sirens in the 2025 PWHL Draft.

Shanahan signed a two-year contract extension with New York in June 2026, securing her place with the organization through the 2027–28 season. Her addition to Team USA’s October camp provides another opportunity to continue developing against some of the top players in the women’s game.

With the Women’s World Championship approaching, Shanahan will look to make the most of the opportunity as the national team evaluates its lineup for the tournament. For the Michigan native, the upcoming camp also brings international hockey to her home state, marking an exciting opportunity to represent her country on a major stage.
