Vandy Downs Georgia 2–0, Moves On to SEC Title Match

Alana Dackiw, Shot for Vanderbilt University

In the SEC Tournament semifinal, Vanderbilt displayed poise and power — beating No. 19 Georgia 2–0 to secure its spot in the championship match.

The Commodores took control early. In the 15th minute, Sydney Watts converted a cross from freshman Olivia Stafford to break the deadlock. Then, in the 68th minute, Watts struck again, this time on a setup from Maci Teater, marking her second goal of the night and underlining her status as Vanderbilt’s go-to dynamo.

Defensively, Vandy was just as sharp — allowing only one shot on goal from Georgia and dominating possession throughout. Goalkeeper Sara Wojdelko needed only a single save to preserve the shutout, showcasing the composure and confidence that have defined her season.

With that win, Vanderbilt advanced to face LSU in the SEC Championship, carrying momentum and belief into the title match.
