Whitecaps’ Clark, McGonigle, and Briceno Promoted to Double-A
The West Michigan Whitecaps are saying goodbye to three of their brightest stars as Max Clark, Kevin McGonigle, and Josue Briceno have all been promoted to Double-A Erie, the Detroit Tigers’ affiliate.
All 20 years old, these top prospects have been instrumental in the Whitecaps’ strong 54-26 season and playoff berth. Ranked among the Tigers’ best — with McGonigle now No. 7 and Clark No. 12 in MLB Pipeline’s top 100 — their performances have stood out. McGonigle leads with a .372 average and a .462 OBP, while Clark shines in center field hitting .285 with 12 stolen bases. Briceno, who recently made history in the Arizona Fall League, leads the Midwest League with 15 home runs and a .422 OBP.
The trio also made franchise history by being selected for the MLB Futures Game ahead of the All-Star festivities, where they’ll showcase their talents this Saturday in Atlanta.
Detroit fans will be watching closely as these rising stars take the next step toward the majors.
